To end the year of 2016 Emmett ended up in the ER getting some liquid stitches. Mitchel got new drum heads for Christmas and was in the process of changing them out. Brayden was holding Emmett and carrying him around. Apparently he went to sit down by Mitchel and hand the baby over, Emmett was not securely in Mitchel's arms and fell forward head first into the drum. That was fun to explain in the ER. Brent and I can laugh about it now...but at the time saying things like, "Well his brothers say..." made us feel like AWESOME and attentive parents. Emmett was a trooper and took his head being glued shut pretty well. I think if it were to happen now I would just glue it shut myself. I was more worried about possible concussion...this kid hits his head more than any other child we have had.
A couple days after Emmett's trip to the ER, Mitchel ended up donating blood for the first time. We were out and about and like always, Brent decided to stop by the red cross. He is an avid donor and has instilled that quality into his children. Mitchel was pretty excited. After getting checked in and going through the interview process, he was taken over to a table. He got a sweet man to draw his blood. Only problem was the man couldn't find Mitchel's vein on the first, or second try. They asked if he wanted to just call it good, since he'd already been poked a couple times, or if he would like to try in the other arm. Mitch really wanted to donate so a different phlebotomist came over and it was a success.
We were in the Red Cross waiting area |

A trip out to Chipotle to visit Daddy at work.
We got a ton of snow that January and we had to shovel our roof to relieve the weight. It took 3 days, and was exhausting, but also pretty fun.
In lieu of a company holiday party, Brent's company actually gave us a voucher for like $150 for dinner. So we made it a mini weekend date and got a room for the night and went to a nice steak dinner. We ordered a whole bottle of wine, and a dessert for each of the kids. After dinner we drove the dessert to the kids and then headed to our hotel room.
Of course we had the baby with us... |
They usually give this kid a balloon at the grocery store...spoiled much?! |
these two... |
August made a chocolate and oreo pudding dessert with gummy worms...
We got some coconuts to drink...
you have to wear a pirate hat when drinking out of coconuts... |
Then I started grad school in January. Our classes were postponed/online for a couple weeks due to all the snow...
