Our fourth day we got up...slowly. The week was definitely catching up with us. We were heading out early for our Magic Morning.
Sadly, there were just as many people there so it wasn't as magical as I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be ride Space Mountain 8x in a row magical, but it was more like barely get on it three times in that extra hour. Oh well. It was still amazing.
We headed over to the Monorail because we hadn't done that yet. It was crazy there was NO one on the platform and we got in a car all by ourselves. I thought this was great, but then we got to the first stop and we were swarmed by people and it turned into a sardine container. It made me really grateful for that little time of an empty monorail.
We tried to do all of the things we didn't get to do all week, so we also headed over to Tom Sawyers island. This is a great place to do some running around and crawling through caves.
The boys found the big wheel that you turn and while you turn it the treasure chest with the skeleton lifts up out of the water. August just loved this. He stayed there for several minutes just spinning the wheel...are re-spinning the wheel.
Eventually we found the treasure!
We spent a lot of time running around and exploring. It was nice to be so active versus just walking. On the one day we wore our fitbit it said it was over 30,000 steps in a day. For five day...that was a lot of walking.
Bray and I went on the Haunted Mansion again. August went on it once, but was not a fan. So, I got to go on it again randomly while Brent took Aug on something else.
We loved trying on all the hats and ears. I didn't take too many pictures of this, but it was very entertaining.
We consulted the shrunken head...
Pretty much anything that August could stick a coin in we played. We have the flattened decorative pennies from almost every machine in Disneyland.
We also rode on Splash Mountain a lot!
August really liked this ride. I was surprised he liked sitting in the front. Towards the evening the only thing that stopped him was getting wet. So wearing the rain coat he still was able to sit in the front. I took a few pictures of our pictures...I wish I would have taken them all.
We went to the Golden Horseshoe and caught one of their comedy shows. It was great. We had ice cream and enjoyed the ol' West setting.
We also decided to ride the train towards the end of the day. Our feet were worn. As we approached the train some of the passengers were getting off and one kid went and threw up right in front of us. It was very memorable. I felt so bad for his parents. Thank goodness there was a bathroom close by.
We got off the train in Tommorowland and went on Space Mountain some more.
The sun was going down and we were getting hungry. We did Star Tours, Buzz light year and the rocket ride. By the time we got on the rocket ride it was dark and the lights of Disneyland were twinkling all around us. Magical.
Day Five we took it easy. We got up when we wanted and slowly made our way to the park. Again it didn't matter. There were just as many crowds as when it first opens. It was, however, VERY crowded. Fridays are NOT the days to go. It was like free day at the zoo. There were so many people the line for Space Mountain said 190 min wait...Haha...CRAZY.
The weather was the most gloomy this day.
Brent and I were happy to snuggle up and relax before going to the park. We were staying until close because the firework show is on the weekends.
The boys had their swords and crowns all over the hotel room...August was obsessed with Mitch's sword.
I was worried I brought too many pairs of shoes for the boys, but after the water ride shenanigans I am very happy that I did...
We headed to the old school rides on this last day. We went on the Pinocchio, Snow white, Storybook ride, Mr. Toads wild ride...
Peter Pan was closed. Boo.
Still, we had a great day of nostalgia (for me).
We headed over to the Small World to catch a parade. The lines for the rides were ridiculous. So we decided to watch a couple of the shows. It was fun to see all the different dancing and costumes. It really is more geared to girls and princess fanatics.
Then we headed to Toon Town. We were excited to check this out. BUT, the Rodger Rabbit ride broke down right when we got towards the front of the line. Since wait times were almost 45+ mins everywhere we just stayed put. They eventually got it working and we were able to ride it twice in a row. Thank you fastpass.
I kept looking at the clouds wishing it would just rain...
We could handle it, but I bet a lot of these other people would run away and hide.
Still, it barely drizzled for like a second.
In toon town the sky really looked fake. It was hard to believe it was real it was so grey.
I am surprised at the shots I was able to take with my phone. There were SO many people around, but I was able to get mostly just the boys in these pictures.
As it got darker (and colder) we decided to NOT go see the light show that didn't start until 10:30. Instead we were content with rootbeer floats and watching the fireworks.Sadly as Brent and Bray went to go get the ice cream treats August laid his head on the table and fell asleep.
As the fireworks started we took turns holding and sitting with August and getting up and walking to a small opening in the buildings to see the fireworks.
On our way out of the park we were going to redeem one of our coupons for a free picture. The gal at Splash Mountain told us we could get one on Main St. Disney. She said they have all the attraction and park pictures there. Bracing our way through the crowds taking turns holding Augs sleepy body we found the photo place. When we got up to the register for our turn the gal apologized emphatically, but they ONLY do the PHOTO pass photos there...NOT the attraction photos.
She said there was still a photographer out at the castle if we wanted to run over there and take a picture.
We decided this was something we really wanted...mainly to use a coupon that was worth almost $20. Still, I am glad we went over there. Brent made a deal with Aug and told him if he woke long enough to smile in the picture he would carry him the whole way back to the hotel...and August did it. The sweetest little smile ever.
We were tired, exhausted is actually more like it, we had splash mountain hair and ice cream tinged faces. But I love the picture.
We somehow made it back to the hotel and PASSED out.
We headed out to my Dad's and waved goodbye to Disneyland.
The car ride was nice and relaxing.
We stopped by a Thai place when we got to town and then spent time watching Avatar and hanging out with my Dad. We got to bed at a semi decent time. My poor dad was feeling ill. Of course that didn't stop him from going and playing tennis or racquetball or something..
The next morning August got to feed the chickens.
The next morning I headed out with the boys! I did not get as good of gas mileage on the way home...
It was surreal getting home.
August shared this sentiment and said "I miss Disneyland Mom."
Me too sweetie. Me too!
