Disneyland ~ Day THREE California Adventure and Medieval Times

On our third day we had booked a dinner at Medieval Times in Buena Park, so we knew we were going to be leaving early. We decided to spend that day back at California Adventure park...
If I haven't mentioned this already I get kind of obsessed with  planning things. Details and minute silly things that lead to having an inflated sense of what the trip should be like. This time I did plan EVERYTHING down to the millisecond, but Brent advised and supported me being flexible and easy-going. It was wonderful. When the boys wanted to eat something at the park instead of making lunch, I could just say "okay" (because I planned on a  lot of non perishable snacks ;>)
Still, we counted down the day until August was TALL enough to ride on the majority of the rides. After all, it is quite expensive and we wanted every pennies worth of fun. All the planning paid off, but the flexibility paid off the most on the third day!

Brent went straight to the line for the Cars ride. We were able to get a fast pass for sometime after noon. We were super excited because last time we couldn't even get close to it it was sooo crowded. The boys and I waited for Dad over by the Grizzly water ride waterfall, but then August had to use the bathroom...

Luckily Dad was finishing up at the same time and we were able to check out the Bugs Life area.

We then headed over to Radiator Springs and rode some of those rides.

By the time it was our fast pass time for the Cars ride it had broken down. They said it could 15mins or 5 hrs to fix. They had no idea, but invited us to stay in line. So we did...luckily it was not that long of a wait and the ride was up and running again. I am bummed that I didn't get the picture of us on the ride....
The empty line rails at the front of the ride.

After all that excitement we went to the eatery area and enjoyed our lunch that I made.

It was at this point that we split up. August and I went and did the Wilderness Adventure scavenger hunt, while Brent and the boys went on the big roller coaster and tower of terror again.

We went on the Grizzly river ride again, and again, and again, and we were soaked. My shoes were like I had walked into a lake and out again. They were squishy and my feet were being rubbed raw, but I tried to keep my spirits up since we were leaving early for our dinner date. Unfortunately this was also the day that I pulled the camera out of the backpack after one of our wet rides and realized it was broken. So I tried to improvise with some athletic tape and tried to keep the thing closed and get as many pics as I could in case it decided to stop working all together...

We rode on Goofy's fly school roller coaster a number of times more as well, August loved this one. I was less excited at how jerky it was. (and how high up). Still, it was fun.

Finally we headed back to the hotel and all changed into some warm clothes and got ready to head out to our dinner.
It is a fun experience if you have never done it.
You go and check in and they assign you a section of the stadium marked by certain colors. We have ALWAYS been the Red and Yellow side. They crown you and you take pictures with the Princess. After some mingling and drinking you are let into the arena where they put on quite a medieval show. You are served by squires and wenches and you eat off of pewter dishes with your hands.
You eat a baby dragon (chicken) with dragon blood (tomato soup) and veg. Plus you get beverages and dessert all while the jousting and horse shows are going on. You cheer for your Knight and boo all of the other knights.
The boys absolutely love it.

After the epic battle the boys went to go meet and greet our knight. Amazingly enough he made  full recovery.

It was perfect and the boys were exhausted!!!
This is when I realized it may have been nice to plan a beach day in between all of our amusement park days. I mean we were all pretty exhausted and we still had two more magical days left!
