Oh summer.
Bringer of the sweet sunshine, good mood fuel.
Meeting me early at my window.
For you I will rise and wait in the silence and dew of the morning,
searching for what you will bring me each day.
Summer.
And your abundant fruit.
Giving us the opportunity to pick apples and plums from our very own tree.
Oh Summer,
you return me to my youth, and let Brent ride the pogo stick like a BOSS.
Summer.
You bring me such splendor and surprise.
Like the continuous stream of deer through our yard.
Oh summer,
You let me indulge...
no regrets!
Like Sonic...
...and selfies.
and ordering a "large"!
Summer,
You make my personal expression more noticeable.
Like when August discovers the Sharpie in my pen drawer...(yes I have a pen drawer)
Summer,
You make it easier to travel to where I want to be.
To visit people I love like Annette and Mike, just to give some hugs.
Summer,
You are sweeter than you can imagine.
Like my sweet lovely boy who is transitioning and leaving childhood behind with every passing day.
Oh Summer,
You make it easier to just take our time getting home...
...and having donut picnics in the park!
Summer,
You make sequin shoes even that much more amazeballs.
Summer,
You and your funny signs.
Like these ones I caught while driving to Portland...
Summer,
You and your lobster tanks.
Oh Summer,
You inspire us to be cool.
With not only slurpees, but with MUSTACHE straws.
Summer,
The season of my anniversary. Where I celebrated 12 years married to that guy,
with a gigantic bowl of hot and sour soup.(love the symbolism)
Summer,
and the funny way you bring a boy closer to his dog.
Summer,
and the fun family camping trips...
...and gorgeous views.
Using the clouds and sun to create your own special light show.
Summer,
What a great time for Aunt Kathy to visit.
Oh Summer,
Did I mention the ice cream?
Alas,
Summer you are going too quickly. There are still hikes I want to take, rivers I want to visit, and people I need to have over for a bbq.
So please summer, slow down and let us enjoy the rest of AUGUST while we still can!
Oh man! Now I want ice cream and doughnuts. Summer for me is working off this baby weight! haha!
