August catches the Rainbow

On the way home last week we went to a very special place...the Rainbow Trout farm.

Brent had taken Mitchel here for his first fishing experience. It was so cute watching Mitch help August "learn" how to fish himself.

This place is pretty awesome for the young fisherman. You only pay for the fish and the pole, bait, and bag of ice is all included. Oh and did I mention they even clean the fish there for you, or you can do it yourself!

They have different sized fish in their 10 different ponds. The fish you catch you have to buy, there are no throw backs. August ended up catching a 15.5" fish and a 16" fish.

I'll let the pictures do the talking...

It took a few tries before August understood how to really "cast" his line...

I was pretty impressed with how serious he took it.
I expected some of his wild and crazy screaming and jumping around, but he stayed poised and reeled in his fish.

He had so much fun he wanted to catch one more...
And I just couldn't say no to him.
He's just way too cute and excited about his fish.
This next time his first cast he got a nibble within the first minute, but the fish got away.
He cast out again and again there was a bite within seconds...
and he caught his second fish!

Mitch did a great job removing the hook from the fish.

There is even this great area where you can bbq and picnic.
Some people bbq their fish right there, fresh out of the water.
We still had an almost 2hr drive so we took the bag of ice and headed back home!

  1. What a great experience to document. And your pictures are amazing. I know I say that every time but I love them.
