Thursday ~ livin the dream

Brent was miserable sicky by Thursday and I am not sure if it was anything more than a severe allergy attack, but it was bad.

He was just leaking everywhere. His nose was dripping yet managed to be clogged. He was hacking up wet balls of mucus and making me nauseated in the process.

I always feel so helpless when any of my guys are sick.

Brent was in good spirits for the most part. He got up and made us some omelets.
He is so precise when cutting all the ingredients I love watching him cook.

When he takes on these more domestic tasks that I usually do he gets very thoughtful. At some point during the day he looked at me and said a very sincere thank you, for everything I do. In general Brent is very thoughtful. He always makes me feel special and cared for, but for some reason this "thank you", really touched me.
I guess it was one of those moments where I felt really seen by him. I could tell if I sat and thought about it too much I would definitely cry. Cry because at times it is very overwhelming being a mother. A mother of 3 boys. Still, you never have time to sit and reflect on how overwhelming it is to keep schedules, guide them, and worry constantly about the way you parent. There are random moments you wonder if you are really damaging your kids by your choices, ya know?
Brent just wanted to let me know that he knows how much I do for them and he more than appreciates it. He knows its not always easy and he thinks he doesn't tell me enough, but he does.

We decided to stay in and just watch movies maybe BBQ that night.
It was nice having a kind of lazy day.
We did have to go to soccer that evening, but in the meantime we were able to snuggle up and relax.
So, there wasn't much to photograph that day until August's soccer game.

 Brayden's practice...

August's game.

4 year olds are adorable. They have no real idea what they are doing.
They are just excited to be kicking the ball and running.

Our family vacation week was approaching its end.
We had more soccer to look forward to on Friday, plus a drive to Portland!

Wednesday ~ Hump Day

Wednesday we woke up around 9ish.
Last night when we were knocking around ideas Brent ran with a couple of them (when he couldn't sleep) and got more information. He decided what he would love to do with the boys and I was go to check out Kahneeta in Warm Springs. He was excited because they had horse back riding, among many other things. When we woke he asked me if I was okay with this, because there was a minimum age of 8 years old and so August would be unable to go. One of us would have to stay with him. Brent has wanted to ride a horse for a long time now. It had been awhile since we had been riding. I told him I was fine and he made the phone call. He scheduled the earliest apt. time they had which was 10:30. Then he came and told me...I informed him that Warms Springs was almost an hour away so we would have to leave like NOW.
Impressively we got all 3 boys up and in riding clothes, packed all their swim stuff and got an in-the-car breakfast for them all in 20mins.
We headed to Warm Springs and made it with about 15mins to spare. The stables had a sign that said closed, but there was a woman who had pulled up and seemed to be tending to the horses.
She didn't say anything to us, got back in her car and left.
We got out and checked out the area. The boys were happy to meet the horses.

We met the horses and we waited...

 10:30 came and went.
And we waited....

We met some other people who were also scheduled to ride at 10:30 as well. One of the gentlemen called, but no one could give us any answers. Over an hour later a man pulled up and apologized.
Apparently the woman who had taken our reservation that morning just left and didn't tell anyone where she was going. There were no more rides available at noon (which was the next session) they were booked up. I could tell Brent was pretty disappointed. I don't blame him especially after sitting for an hour.
We still had swimming in the hot springs to look forward to.
So we just shifted our focus and headed over to the swimming pool.

The boys loved the slides and August decided to start dunking himself underwater and swimming under water. I was so impressed. He was so eager to swim "all by himself".
Since Mom forgot the life jacket  when we were at the hotel that is what he had to do. So here at the hot springs he wanted to keep his life jacket off and really swim.

Brent was still feeling a little bit off. He was super cold in the water which was funny because it is a hot spring that they have to cool down in the summer.
He decided he was probably coming down with something and that he was starting to get a fever.
Poor guy. In the middle of his vacation he was getting sick.
We got out and warmed up in the hot tub. Then we decided we were SUPER hungry and ready to go eat.

We went to the restaurant at the lodge. It was fairly empty...

We each picked our poison and then the boys went to play some arcade games. Once the food came they couldn't wait to eat. We even got some fry bread, a specialty made there on the reservation.

Brent and Mitchel played a few games of pool.
Again, Mitch is getting fairly competitive and it sure makes things a lot more interesting.

We had to head back home for Mitchel's soccer game. Luckily the kids got to catch a little nap in the car...

Brayden had practice at a different field than Mitch's game.
So we decided to divide and conquer.
This is so nice having Brent here.
Usually I am doing all three of their soccer schedules by myself. It gets rather tricky.
I was able to take Bray to his practice, while Brent got Mitch to his game.
Once Bray's practice was over we headed to the other field to watch the end of Mitchel's game.

When we got to the field we were greeted by this...
 A not so happy August.
Brayden decided to cheer his brother up by being a goof ball.
Mitch played well. He is a lot more engaged and eager.
He stopped the ball with the inside of his arm, but I missed taking a photo of it.

This was when Mitchel spiked the ball with his head...
Not the best series of pictures...I missed the moment of impact.

When we arrived home the boys showered and downloaded their gear. Brent had taken August home early because he was feeling incredibly icky.  August made a train track all across his room.
We were exhausted, Daddy was sick. We were more than happy to hit the sack...
