A couple weeks after Emmett’s birth it was time for August’s
Kindergarten promotion. It was one of the first events that Emmett attended
with a multiple amount of people around. August was pretty excited about being
done with Kindergarten, although I am not sure he knew what that really meant.
The theme was the Dr. Seuss Oh the Places You Will Go a book I love and usually purchase for
all the graduates in my life. It was wonderful to see how much growth there was
over the year in Kindergarten. It was also great to see all the ladies I had
worked with during my pregnancy. They all ogled over Emmett and how adorable he
is. Having five Kinder classes graduating on the same day, same time meant
there was a lot of people there. It got pretty chaotic, but we ended up only
being there for a little over an hour. Shortly after we arrived the Kinders performed a couple songs they had been working on. Again, I tried to video tape it, but my location made it a little hard.
We stood in a far corner of the gym next to a quick exit just in case Emmett was to start screaming. He ended up being a perfect little guy, but my pictures somewhat suffered due to our position.
As they announced the children the kids walked up onto the
platform and showed off their award. It was hilarious watching the kids all try
to figure out how to face their parents to get their photo taken. Then there
were stations set up for each of the teachers to pose for pictures with their
teacher. It was short and sweet and
perfect. After the pictures with teachers they were serving muffins and juice in the cafeteria. Then we made our way to the classrooms and said our final goodbyes. We gathered all the paperwork and finished assignments and headed home.
Later we decided to go on a walk. Knowing the days that
Brent would be off on his paternity leave/vacation days with baby were
fleeting. We tried to spend the minutes filled with little activities. We
walked to the baseball field near our house and across the little creek.
It is a lot of fun to see the boys act like they are little
explorers even though they are now big explorers. Brent was also gearing up for
Survivor run, so he wanted to find a place to start running. This ended up not
being one of the best places because it was full of bark chips. It actually was
slightly hard to push the stroller around too. It was a looped trail that ended
up being a Frisbee golf area. We spent a little over an hour walking and
jogging around. The boys had fun and discovered the fishing pond that is
stocked with fish for children under 14 years old. It is nice to finally check
out places that are only a minute and half from our house.
We did a little off-roading with the stroller... |
