The morning of August's actual birthday he was very insistent that he would like to have donuts
"just like Brayden".
I had no problem complying with this request, because lets face it...
who doesn't like donuts for breakfast?!
I had already had the table decked out for the month of October with some of our Halloween gear.
It was easy to make his donuts look right at home on there too.
Brent had bought some little nick-knacks for Aug, and was working on making him a Birthday Crown.
After tiredly stumbling out of his bedroom to our arms he soon realized the contents of the table were for him. He started going through the pile of nick-knacks.
He has a special cup, jello dinosaur molds with jello, window decals, and reflectors.
While August chose what donut he wanted and ate a little "real" breakfast, Daddy diligently worked on his crown.
Finally the crown was finished.
Daddy made sure it would fit just right.

August was building his marble tower when the crown was finished... |
With very little Daddy help, August did his 5 birthday pull ups.
We hurried to the kitchen to get started making our goodies for the day.
We started with the Dinosaur Jello.
I love the little pat on the back he was giving Brent |
Once the jello was ready and placed in the fridge we did some celebratory high fives and got ready for some rice crispy treats!
Brent loves to make rice crispy treats, which is lovely.
I have never actually made them...ever.
He included food coloring in the mix so August could make them colorful.
He wanted August to choose two colors. He was persuading him to do purple and orange, but August wanted to use all four colors.
As expected, Dad won out in the end and we ended up with a layered rice crispy treat that was purple, orange, purple. In the spirit of Halloween.
Funny enough I did not get any pictures of the finished products...
Still, after a morning of creating sugary foods we were finally ready to leave the house.
Our stove and oven have been on the fritz so we headed to Home Depot to buy order some new ones.
Here is August ready to head to the store.
Riding in style at the Home Depot
The Home Depot trip ended up being longer than any of us wanted....
August was tired and hungry by the end, so all of you with imagination can guess what it was like.
We left and headed to Applebees for our DUNCH.
It was happy hour, so all the appetizers were half price.
We love appetizers.
And...even though it was 80 whatever degrees outside, August still wanted a hot chocolate.
With whip cream on top.
I don't know if it was the sugar from the hot chocolate or all the food, but this is when we started losing him.
He was getting even more tired...
Ahhh, the plethora of appetizers we couldn't even finish.
Having two more boys at home meant that none of it would go to waste though.
August was relaxing in Dad's arms, until the waitress brought a little birthday dessert shooter.
He perked right up teasing Dad about the cherry.
He even requested more cherries, and what is crazier than that is the waitress actually bringing him out more!
Here is his toothpick of three extra cherries.
I know these are not good for you,
but I love how excited he gets over silly little red gloppy balls of cherry.
It was a very nice birthday.
We went home played some basket ball together and called it a night.

Brent and I had rented a ton of movies to watch.
So he made (for the first time) some mojitos for us.
I made salsa from a HUGE bag of tomatillos we received from Scott.
It was awesome. I love in-home date nights.
I feel like we are breaking in Fall just right...
