Actual Real Christmas Day

So, besides all the hotel goings on, we spent the actual real Christmas at Grandma Annette's house and Jen's.
Brent just had to squeeze that check out time until the last second.
He had the boys go swimming after breakfast.
I decided not to.
It takes me much longer to get ready after swimming, because I HAVE to shower. The pool water is not nice to my hair. After it was all done and we were in the car heading away from the hotel I thought, "hmm maybe I should have swam anyways and just had messed up hair?!"
I mean, having fun with the boys was a lot more important than having tame hair on Christmas right?

Oh well, we live and we learn.

We stopped by Grandma's house and it was packed (as usual). She counted and had somehting like 43 people there. She was pretty surprised.
I had made a stop by her house the second I got in Portland to deliver her a wreath.

So this was not the first time I saw her. Which ended up being super nice since she was so busy hosting. I buzzed around and mingled with a bunch of folks I haven't seen in forever. Had some great conversations and tried to fill my guys tummies.

They really enjoyed themselves and all of the attention and wrapping paper wars that ensued.

After a good couple hours there, we headed over to Jen's house.
This was a way more laid back Christmas.
Brent and I played a game of Life with the big boys while Jen finished up some last minute wrapping and stuff.
We had decided against the traditional dinner and instead did taco salads. We had wanted to make some sangria, but ended up not having time. I was in charge of dessert and made a make shift fried ice cream. It was an excellent Christmas.

At Grandma's.
I took some video, but then left the camera in the hands of the kids...

At Jen's we went straight to relaxing and playing board games.
Sporting my new Peacock earrings.

It was like real life too.
I got a ton of student loans and ended up being a teacher...

Poor Ely had been feeling icky sick all week. She had just finished some antibiotics for what they think was strep...The quick test came back negative, but they put her on the antibiotics anyways.

After we ate Carleen introduced on of her pass times at work...
Taped on plastic surgery.
So we used ALL the scotch tape and gave ourselves make overs.
It was pretty entertaining.
I went first.

I thought about keeping the eyebrows...haha

Then Eric jumped right in there.

 Grandma went next.
She was cracking up so hard the tape kept coming off.

 Elysia went for it too.

Brayden acted like he was "too cool" but he really wanted to do it.

Next Abram went.
It was crazy how much he and his Dad look alike.

We used up the last of the tape on Mitch.
He was kind of reluctant, but he is ALWAYS a good sport about things.

After that we opened some presents and just hung out a bit more.
It was already getting late, so it was not long until we called it a night.
Jen had to work the next day...

Jen got us all scarfs and earrings.

I went to work making the desserts.
Brent and Ely went around and got people's orders.
It was very organized and went very smoothly.

Eating the AVACADO

Sure am lucky to have these amazing LadiES in my lIFE

Jen got this light from a friend, that is a giant rock. August insists it is salt and keeps licking it.
Ugh...that boy.

It was a super fun day.
Even though we were missing some people it was great spending time together.

Our focus was where it should be.
I am happy when the holiday is celebrated rather than exaggerated.
