Young at Art

So this last weekend I found myself in Salem with nothing to do and two very rambunctious boys.
My sister recommended a children's art studio that she had heard of from a friend, where the kids are able to create art of any kind with several different mediums. There is no time limit (except the hours of operation) and one flat rate ($6 per kiddo).

So I took the boys, or should I say attempted to, but the Saturday hours were actually 2-7pm, so we went to the indoor McDonalds park down the road from it until it opened...

It was very neat. The gal was so bubbly and warm the kids felt right at home being creative and just letting their imaginations go...

I was surprised how UN-creative the boys were at first. They really had a hard time thinking of stuff to make. I feel that it is most likely from school.
Starting in Preschool we tell them what art projects to do and what materials are for what.
We never hand them bags of pom poms and feathers and say,
"hey see what you can come up with".
I loved that this place challenged them to do just that.

The car is always there so kids can paint and ride...

One of August's favorites was the playdough table...

There is painting of all kinds...
August also enjoyed the plastic bugs

There was also a sand table with an array of toys,
then there was a bead room. So kids can make whatever they want and take it all home!

Brayden contributed to painting the spaceship

 While August played legos,
Brayden worked on his picture for Mitchel...
it got pretty elaborate and had a cafeteria theme.

For the grand finale Brayden made an EGG Launcher. He was super excited and got very creative.

We will definitely go back when we are in that neck of the woods. I think the boys walked away still trying to come up with things to create, which was great.
