...Miles Spencer Baertlein...

The highlight of this month has been (and will be) meeting Miles.
The newest bundle of joy to enter the family.

I was lucky enough to go see him the day after he was born.
Here is the family of FOUR...
(I stole it from Becca)
I was able to go up to the hospital (minus my children) and enjoy some newborn baby time.
Of course I kind of expected Max and Becca to fall asleep, because I got the distinct impression they needed it. I'm afraid I talk too much and so they never really got sleep, but I got to hold baby Miles.
This time they were at Doernbecher Childrens'  hospital. It was a lot easier to find and they had a Starbucks right there as you walk in the door so I was able to buy coffee, and two blueberry scones (I hadn't eaten breakfast yet) one for me, one for the happy couple.
However, like all OHSU departments it is a maze. There was nothing that said "Mother baby unit" thank goodness Max told me "Moon and Stars" floor. At least they had pictures of moons and stars to guide my way.

These are the pictures Becca took before I left. I needed some pics of me and the little guy.
My poor camera has been through the ringer, I feel I am in desperate need of a new lens.
Unfortunately photography is not a cheap hobby...
Becca did her best with my uncooperative piece of equipment.

Meeting Charles (flashback)
Miles

Charles

Charles again, I can't get over the similarity in Charles and Miles and myself. (Why do I look the same after 2 years...I need to fix that)

So when I first got there I was holding Miles and thought I should start the picture taking. I was trying to be ARTSY...
It wasn't working out for me, but I thought these photos were funny so I included them.

Here are more of my "artsy" photos...
Haha, I guess I was trying to do as much as possible without the flash.

Don't let that sweet tranquil pose fool you, he was a wiggle worm. I tried getting pictures of him and all of a sudden I'd have his hand flapping in front of his face...

One of the things that Max and Becca pointed out was Miles unique toes.
One of his toes (the one next to his pinky toe) is longer and turns inward toward his big toe.
I tried to capture this, but again I had a wiggle worm to contend with...
Although a lot of them are blurry I included them.

Then Daddy decided he needed a wardrobe change...
That made him super happy

After the shirt came off I got some sweet pics of Dad and his little one.

Okay here are comparisons of Miles (left) and Charlie (right)...

Then I tried to get some photos of his belly!

And the cutest face ever award goes to...

Okay these few pics were kind of awkward.
Maybe because he is on a cloud blanket and looks like he is flying around?
No, just flailing limbs...

 The deep thinker...

Then the they came in to do a hearing screening for language.
All this new stuff they do for newborns is crazy.
I mean my oldest is going to be 14 this year (yikes) and I don't remember them doing much.
Still, Max got Miles all swaddled up and help him for the screening.
It was hard to watch.
I mean they expected Max to not talk for a whole 10 minutes :)
Thank goodness it didn't take that long.
(The guy was pretty interesting too).
Very informative...

Okay, seriously these were the only pictures I got of you Rebecca.
Probably because I was following Miles around,
and the only time you (she) had Miles was to feed him...
Oops!
I will need to get some when I see you guys next.
Ugh...

Is this not adorable?!

Needless to say, Miles can hear just fine!
And somehow after all of that I had been there almost 3-3.5 hours...
geez! So I had to get going, sadly...
I snapped a few more of the little guy and Becca took photos of us...
looks like an almost smile there!

same picture as above, I was just playing with the saturation levels...

Watch out world Max has got the Moby wrap...
He was super excited to revisit his wrapping skills...

And I thought the water birth clinic was harsh on me with full body massage and a huge soaking tub, the "Goals" at OHSU for a new mom are insane...

And that was my first time meeting Miles Spencer Baertlein.
