The Visitors...

Calling a close to the Christmas break my amazing sister Jen came out to visit us.
My niece Breanna and nephew Tyler are great kids.
It is crazy to think of how old all of our kids are!
We did a lot of snuggling, cooking, and watching movies...
Breanna brought some light reading. She's always read a ton.

Ella had a good time getting to know Cosmo.
We were happy to give Cosmo the experience of being around a smaller dog. He's always around big dogs that he can jump all over. She is WAY too small for him to jump on.

On Saturday I made a big waffle breakfast.
We also went on a little 3.6mile hike right here in town.
It is crazy how quiet it is out here.
There were times on the trail when the kids were silent and you could not hear anything.
It was a nice little walk to get the kids wiggles out.
There were three different overlooks.
One of Prineville
One of Iron Horse (I think is a future housing development) as of now just open land
One of the Ochoco mountains

There's Jen on top of the world!!

You can't see it in these pictures but under the Juniper and sage there was frost on the ground. Giving everything in the shade a light dusting of white.

We found this cairn along the path. August knocked it down with a stick and made everyone pretty upset...

I had to keep teasing Brea for being on her phone...
We are here in the middle of no where and she has her phone out!?
She said she was taking a picture...
Uh huh, sure

August wanted to start merging our own path East ward...the boys had to help round him up.

We headed back to the cars and August was saying he was tired.
So, we turned it into a fun race to the finish line. (Thank you Turbo...)
Plus I kept pretending to be a bear chasing him.
The growling really upset my throat though :(

All of our Monkeys in the trees

Brea and the boys rebuilt the cairn, for other people on the path

For being tired this kid sure got a second wind...
he ran most of the way back.

August saw the pile of rocks and said he needed a picture "over there".
He walked over with Brea, and she kept stopping and saying "here?"
August insisted they climb up and look like "birds in the trees"...
His artistic vision is beginning already

August tried to convince Breanna to get on her bottom and scoot down this one part of the trail...

I had him on my shoulders the last little quarter mile. It was freezing...literally.
His nose was running like crazy.
My poor boycicle.

Finally we made it to the car and came home to some fried chicken and mashed taters....Thanks again mom.
____________________________________________________________
This whole time Jen was out at our house, Carleen and her family were just 30 mins away in Bend.
Carleen and her in-laws had rented a little holiday get-a-way. They picked up Mitch on Friday, because they were going to go snowboarding again.
So although missed visiting with Jen he had tons of fun with Abram and the Bock family.
They went hiking, sledding, and snowboarding.

Now it's back to the daily grind...
