John Day River August 2019

The last week of August Uncle Jay called and asked Brent and I for a favor that involved going out to the ranch to take care of some things. So we decided since we would be in the area we should make the most of it.

Of course this is how the boys started out the day...

One of the things Jay had needed was help getting fire trucks from ranch to ranch. We were unable to help because of our Hood River camping trip, but we were able to come out the next weekend to help with some other stuff.

We got to the ranch, hung out long enough to get stuff done and do some poses with the fire truck.

It was the last weekend of summer (sniff sniff) so we decided to drive out to the river spot once more and enjoy a day there after going to Jay's. I packed a cooler the day before and mostly loaded up the car.

We parked at the top and ate some lunch. Then walked down to the river.

When we got to the river there were a lot of people, but one of the big groups was on their way out. This time we were at the original spot with a sandy beach right there. We started blowing up floaties and getting ready to relax.

It was perfect. We had a blast.
The boys started pulling their floats up to go down the mini rapids.
August kept letting go of his floaty before he was able to actually ride it.

I have been using my waterproof camera most of the summer...It is fun to get some underwater videos.

This guy is a fish and would NEVER leave the water if I didn't make him.

Even though the river was WARM and the weather was perfect, he kept getting blue lips. I would have him go play in the sand to go ahead and warm up.

Emmett put a rock on the alligator float so it wouldn't blow away in the wind...so cute!

We then moved into one of Emmett's favorite pastimes...being thrown from person to person.

I was a little nervous when August said he wanted to catch him...but he did a great job.

After the sun started going down we loaded up and headed home. We are so fortunate to live so close to such amazingly beautiful places that we get to enjoy.
