The first Saturday of spring break, Brent's niece and family came over for a dinner and for the kids to play. We had a great time, and it is exciting to have more family so close. I totally forgot to pull out the ol' camera, so there are no photos...but we'll be getting together soon and will be taking pics then.
Back to spring break...
Mitchel got a second job. In addition to working for the Health Department, he is now an employee of Home Depot. He worked almost everyday of spring break, so that was lame, but he is saving a ton of money for when he leaves for college, so that is good.
We went on a few different hikes. We decided to complete the hike we started when Justin was visiting and go back up to Chimney Rock. It was a nice day out and there were quite a few people who had the same brilliant idea as us.
Later during the week we headed to Redmond and went on a nice little walk on the Canyon Trail. We had tried to go to Smith Rock, but there was NO parking anywhere. It was so super crowded. It was kind of sad. Still, we made the best of it and enjoyed the canyon. It went from sunny blue skies, to big thunderclouds with random showers around us. It was neat to capture the clouds and the rain falling in various spots around us. Love where we live!
The third hike I tried to take my dad on was NOT a success. I attempted to drive him up to Walton lake so we could stroll around. It was beautiful out, but as we got closer up in the Ochocos there was snow all over the road and my poor Prius was bottoming out. We were about 2 miles away and decided to turn around. I was afraid of getting stuck up there, and I had just taken the snow shovel out of the car...
So we went and walked around town and got slurpees. No pictures of this epic adventure, but it was an equally satisfying adventure.
Towards the end of the week we headed to Portland so that I could attend Carleen's bridal shower/bachelorette party. My dad headed that way with us to visit Josh.
The day of the party Jen and I had fun hanging out with the fam and playing more games. We then spent a good while getting ready for our night. We tried on a few different outfits and did our hair a few different ways, and then decided we were ready!

Our first stop that night was the Lucky Lab pub downtown. We got there and everyone was eating and visiting. Jen and I joined in the shenanigans and caught up with Dan's mom and sister. I wish I would have taken pictures of this event, but honestly I don't recall pulling my phone out all night!
We then headed over to Darcells for a wonderful show, but first we changed into jeans in the car. I haven't tried to change clothes while sitting in the front seat of a car in a while...glad to say I still got it. Again, I didn't get any pictures, but Jen took a few snaps...
By the time the drag queen show ended I was ready to call it a night. Downtown gets scary for me with the different colorful people that emerge from the shadows. The police were out and started barricading the streets off, because apparently they close all the streets around all these clubs. However, my sister (the bride-to-be) put me in a sort of loving-headlock and walked me across the street to the Barrel room to continue the night of dancing and singing at the top of our lungs.
Carleen got called up on stage and had to dance and play a cow bell...it was interesting. It was also a really fun place that we are going to return to soon. I am pretty sure Carleen had a great time. She was pretty smiley all night.
Ya, at one point we ended up on the floor...
We went out to Gustav's for brunch the next day, after a basketball game and some park time. It was brunch with the whole bunch of us. Plus Josh works there, so even one of my brothers was there. Super awesome.
I was very rested and ready to go back to work...
