Snow Days February

2019 the most recent snowmagedon. Probably our last with Mitchel...since he is going to move and go to college. (sniff sniff)
The night we got back from Portland it just dumped on us. We weren't quite sure if it was 18" or 24", but it just kept going through Monday. School was cancelled.
We decided go for a walk with the whole crew. Much like we did when Emmett was a baby, we walked over to 7-11 and explored the town.

Back in  2016...Emmett's first snowmagedon

The snow continued to fall, and school was subsequently cancelled Tuesday....then Wednesday...then Thursday. By Friday the city must have felt they had a good handle on it because they resumed school for that ONE day!

In addition to ALL the kids being home from school, and MY school being cancelled, BRENT also got to stay home from work all week. As an electrician they work under houses, and in attics, and all over. The current job he was working on was out in Sunriver and it was snowed in. No access meant no work.

So we were ALL home together. It was awesome. Like a sweet mini vacation right at the beginning of the year. We had a blast.

We kept going and shoveling grandma and grandpa's walk and driveway, but the snow kept piling up.

Grandpa was peeking out of the door watching us work

Inside Brent had been inspired to make omelettes and other yummy food all week. He had plenty of helpers.

I had a helper too!

The trampoline looked like an upside down pie

I was trying to show that it was past my knees....

As you can see the roof was taking on quite a bit of snow
Brent decided to make some homemade chili

I can't take any credit for the perfectly sized cut up vegetables...that was all Brent.

Brent also made a batch of potato pancakes.

Midway through the week we heard we were going to get another 17" or so of snow, so we decided to go get up on the roof and shovel it. With all four of us up there with shovels it went really fast. We put the speaker on, had some good music playing and went to work.

Mitch and Bray shoveling their life away....
When the roof clearing was done, Brent told the boys that they could jump off into the pile of snow.

I asked the boys to not jump feet first, or feet down, and instead to kind of cannon ball or gently bend the knees...that did not happen.

Mitch jumped first and then Brayden needed some convincing.

Once Brayden jumped he said, "Oh" almost disappointed. I think he realized it wasn't that big of  a drop. Especially for him.

Emmett refused to put his hood up and the back of his neck was so red from the snow he collected inside his hood. Thank you natural consequences.

As this week was butting up against my birthday and our getaway plans, we were glad that the weather started to clear. The snow is still here almost 2.5 weeks later, but we were able to go and enjoy time just Brent and I.
