Hello Barber shop!
Over the years it has become more and more of a hassel to pin point when to get the boys hair cut.
I like to honor their sense of individuality and choice of how thy want their hair, but I also have to look at the big picture.
I get judged as a parent, by their hair and general overall appearance.
Do I agree with this? Not really.
But I am acutely aware that when they look all tussled and messy I get THE LOOKS.
The LOOKS that say, "serious lady? Have you seen your children?"
As much as I want to pretend I pay no attention to these LOOKS, I can't.
Especially when I feel that the boys will be judged by their appearance, because you know, that is the wonderful society in which we live.
I try and impress the importance of bathing and deodorant.
I introduce hair gel and cologne.
It is up to them to care though...and quite frankly they don't.
I guess I should be happy they are so comfortable in themselves.
That being said, I also have to deal with their logic of NOT wanting their hair cut.
And as it seems the universe was against me this month.
Each time I wanted to go get their hair cut the places in town were closed.
NONE are open Sunday, most close at 6pm (when the boys sports get out).
One night after basketball we raced over to Great Clips. Yes it was only 5-7 mins before 6pm, but their open sign was still on. As I pulled up I was gathering my phone and wallet and I noticed a man walk to the door. I thought they were just checking to see that it was a car in front of their store...NOPE!
He was actually going up and locking the door. I walked to the door and tried opening it and the woman was mouthing to me that they were closed. I held up my phone that showed there was still over 5 mins. until 6pm. Plus their OPEN sign was still on.
Ugh...I decided I did not want to give them my business after that.
Finally a time frame opened up when we were able to make it, all of us.
I chose to go to the Cougar Cuts.
It was a little intimidating because the store was full of taxidermy. There was an array of different animals. From Bear to Moose. It was crazy.
Not only were the hair cuts totally reasonably priced, they give complimentary drinks (can of soda/bottle of water/beer for adults) and they have candy for when the kids are done (licorice/lolipops). They had a TV in the waiting area, toys and puzzles.
It was awesome.
Mitch went first since August was a little nervous.
He usually has daddy cut his hair, but Daddy just hasn't had any time lately.
Finally it was August's turn and I went and got my camera.
Brayden went at the same time as August.
I was ping ponging back and forth trying to support both of them. Bray was a little unsure of what he wanted. She did a great fade on him, but then he said he wanted his hair all the same length. I reiterated that he was referring to a buzz cut. He of course acted like he already knew that and we were the ones who misunderstood him the whole time. (Yeah, for another preteen in the house).
Either way they all got their hair done to their specifications.
They were all very happy campers.
With nice hair...at least for the next few weeks until it grows out AGAIN.
And here are my sweet boys...sporting their new haircuts.
I had to take pictures to send to Dad.
He hates missing these things...so I like to try and keep him with us.
