BE My Valentine

After meeting in December of 2001, Brent and I went on a road trip to Nevada that February (2002). I know it sounds pretty reckless and crazy for me to go on a trip across states with a "practical" stranger, but what can I say...I have always been a little nutty. (trusting, adventurous)
Anywho~
We went and had a blast.
It was kismet.
Anyways Valentine's Day has always been significant because, it was on that day when we made it official (to each other anyways), that we were "together". After that road trip we rarely spent a day  apart. We got married five months later and as they say the rest, well it's history (in the making).

Of course asking Brent he knew he was going to marry me the first time he met me...haha!
I love hearing him tell the story and hearing the other side. His insights of what was going on and how he felt. The wild stirring of emotions that took place. We worked together and he was my boss. So there was that.

As I have probably mentioned before, Brent is amazing at remembering stuff and making things special. I have to really focus and pay attention to the subtle hints that are laid before me. Needless to say that each year we have been together he has WOW-ed me with his thoughtfulness especially on Valentine's Day...
Where I show up with a candy bar...ugh! (and not even his favorite)

Our first Valentine's Day together he got me a crossword dictionary (I used to have time to do the crossword) it was so thoughtful...He even made me a rose out of red licorice. I mean common' what girl wouldn't fall in love with a guy who can do that?

"I have to get better at this gift giving", I've thought over the years, but have failed to allow myself time and planning necessary to successfully follow through. Besides a card, or usually a homemade something or other...which he is grateful for, but I can tell...
He wouldn't mind a little "WOW she paid attention". Ya feel me?
Well...

This year I was ON IT. (proud face)
This year I planned ahead, researched and purchased.
AND what happens????
Weather.
Weather happens all over the USA and my package is DELAYED ;(
It was ordered at the beginning of the month grrr.
I ordered several small items that are his favorites:
  • Pine tar shampoo
  • Sunglasses (currently his are missing an arm)
  • Cinnamon chewing sticks (kind of like tooth picks) he always chews on stuff
  • A BIG tin of Almond Roca (he loves that stuff)
  • A assortment of "healthy" snacks for his commute
  • A butter dish with a lid (he really likes butter left out, but our current butter dish has no lid)
  • A a wonderful handmade soap that smells really awesome (sandalwood and stuff)
I have a cute basket all picked out...waiting to be filled. (sad face)

On the up side, the package will get here eventually...
It's just another year I feel like EPIC fail.
I guess since I DID order it it is more of a slight epic fail

It's another year I strap on a bow and have to proclaim "I'm your present silly"...
...at least until my package arrives.

*(here's the something I "made", another video collage of us)
~Babe, stop rolling your eyes some day you'll thank me for all these memories~

  1. Happy V-day! Something I've noticed about Max (and I think Brent is similar) is that he is so easy to please. Probably from not expecting much during holidays and birthdays growing up! A simple letter or making his favorite meal is an amazing gift for him...but because he gets so excited about the little things, it is so fun to do a wow, thoughtful present! I love your simple but thoughtful present ideas! and such a cute video!
