Boys

There are a few things I have noticed with having all boys. As this list is always getting longer I wanted to document some of these qualities now. I would like to preface this by stating that I understand not one person is alike in all ways and not all boys are alike. These are merely the observations of my three sons, and the joys of being the only girl in the house.

Boys are gentle and helpful with one another...
Little brothers love to learn from their big brothers.

There generally has to be some form of physical contact in any or all of their interactions with one another
There is a genuine sense of competition...not to be better or to prove a point, but to simply always beat the other at everything
There are intense collaborations when it comes to building and constructing things
Video games are the best things in the world
Screaming from the gut is possible at any time and anywhere
Tilting your head and saying "I love you" gets you out of a lot of trouble
Choking is embedded and apart of their genetic code
Simon says is great no matter what the age

 Brothers gravitate towards one another
It is hard to get a serious picture!!! Ever...
They are at risk for extreme addiction to video gaming systems, to the point you think they have grown cables that tether them to the tv
Their pets are the most loved and touched and body slammed and rode...
 Anything can be a canvas
At museums exhibits like this, take an unusually long time to examine. (and yes this is at the High Desert Museum)
Statues are an extension of playgrounds...unless otherwise marked
Rain boots are a MUST!!! All year long
Bathrooms are exciting! Even if they are just boxes of wood
Everything is hands on, and hands-on-each-other
There is no such thing as being too messy
You spend a lot of time at places like this...
Every hair cut is a negotiation (at a certain age)
At least one of them will not want to cooperate in the picture
They give each other bad ideas
 More is always better
You are surprised at how many mirrors you need
Speed is achievable even without coordination
They have just as many accessories as girls, they are just a little different...
You are more scared than they are when they take on new adventures
Tricks they have mastered are a highlight for days, weeks, and years. Learn to look impressed unconditionally.
Sometimes you see yourself in them...
 They trust each other endlessly
The wonder seems to last a little longer
You can jump off of anything!
 There are attacks...
 ...and then there is retaliation
Rocks and trees are natures playgrounds
Boys don't necessarily care about pretty shiny things...
Boys can turn any place into a battlefield
Could live in sweats and hoodies
Can not wait for facial hair
Can believe in Santa until they are eleven
Boys like their space, unless they are watching each other on the DS
Boys can wear hats when they are having bad hair days...
Boys teach you a thousand different ways to remove sap from clothes
Boys can stop fighting and take a good picture, then return to their fighting
Love anything with wheels...

Like order and systems
Boys are generally not picky eaters...

Look super cute when they loose their teeth...
Love knocking things down
Boys like camping!
Boys like building snowmen
Boys like finding burnt wood and using it for face paint and doing warrior calls on the beach...
Boys forge their own paths...
Boys are made of worms and snails and puppy dog tails...
Their hair seems to grow so much faster...(didn't I just cut that?)
Boys are great conversationalist...
Boys play a lot of sports
Can get hurt
Like to make noise!
Boys are adventurers

Boys look up to their Dads
Take kite flying, and all aerodynamics quite seriously
Boys are generally up for anything and take very little time (if any) getting ready. They are easy going and energetic.

I always knew I wanted boys! I sure got 'em. I wouldn't mind having a little girl, but for now I am just thankful for the guys in my life!
You make it full and colorful, thanks guys...
