Let’s Try This Again Camping

A couple weeks after the big storm camping trip we planned another camping trip on the same river. Brent and I went down a day early and grabbed four sites along the river front with the bathroom right across. So we were very secluded and had our own private area. It was lovely. We set up several tents and spread our stuff all around to make it look like all four sites were occupied. So many people were driving by looking for spots.

It was still a little stormy off and on, but nothing like the previous time. This was more normal desert thunderstorms weather, a quick downpour then it moves in we dry up and do it again. We played games, fished, and relaxed. It was lovely.

We went on small adventures around the campsites and also flew the kite a bunch. Anytime there was a little wind Emmett insisted we get the kite. The first night there it was just us so August slept in a tent with Moose. And Brayden slept in his own tent with Frost. While Brent, Emmett, and I slept in our own tent.

The next day the boys waited anxiously for their cousins to get there. Finally, in the afternoon everyone arrived. And the kids started enjoying the arrival right away. I tried to keep the boys at bay while Elysia set up her tent, but they were too excited.

Right across from the campground is the trailhead for the chimney rock hike. So the next day we went ahead and did the hike. With all four dogs, six kids, and six adults. We made quite the conga line.

The kids decided to float down the river. Even though the clouds were rolling in and the rain started to fall...

We also did a little science, we put a bottle of water with the lid on in the fire and to our amazement it took a long time to burn. The kids had different theories about why this was...

We had brought two hammocks and the slack line. So we kept pretty busy. It was a great time. I love camping with groups of people. Wish there were a couple more littles, for Emmett’s sake, but he was doted on by the girls. They did a great job including all the boys.
