Since we live where we do, it hasn't been hard to go on hikes and continue to be outside and exploring. We drive about 20 mins and we are in the Ochoco forest. While Grandpa was in town helping us with yard work, we headed over to our favorite John Day river spot to do some fishing. We got up super early and grabbed breakfast to go. I had loaded the truck and coolers the night before so we were all ready. The boys were excited, but tired. Especially the teenager. He was cranky we were making him do ANYTHING. It was nice when we arrived to see the river. I just LOVE being by the water. It was crazy how high the water was compared to when we usually go....
After we found the perfect spot we unloaded and set up for the day and got the lines in the water.
It was PERFECT! Although the only we caught was some river weeds and sticks, it was just what we all needed. The fish were jumping. They were there. We were just not lucky enough to get any.
Emmett even got his nap in.
Even though we didn't catch any fish we got several lizards. Grandpa showed August how to catch lizards with fishing pole and line. He was a pro by the end of the day. We let them all go at the end, but they kept the boys occupied for quite awhile.
I packed way TOO much food. It was nice though. The boys had plenty of snackage for the day.

We told Emmett he could swim before we left for the day. So as the boys and I packed up the truck, Emmett got to explore further and further into the river.
He was in heaven. He LOVES to swim.
We got all dried off and headed home for the night! Can't wait to go back out there...I'm thinking we camp next time.
