My friend Kaitlynn and I wanted to get together this summer and keep up with our "walking" routine that we adopted during the school year...
In order to do this we made a date to go on our FIRST hike of the summer.
After some crazy driving around and getting lost due to all the construction in Bend we made our way to the road that will lead us to Tumalo Falls.
For anyone who does not know THIS is Tumalo Falls:
We had been there before (the boys and I) I knew that it was a beautiful place, I though Kaitlynn would appreciate it. Still three miles down the we get a sign telling us that it is closed.
We turn around and go to Bend to eat. We went to El Rodeo and enjoyed splitting some Mexican cuisine.

After getting stuffed we decided to go over to Benham falls.
Again, we had been here several times and I knew this place was also beautiful.
It started out nice...aside from the fact that August was on extra HYPER mode the whole day so far...
I am used to coming in the off seasons when there is no vegetation...and all you see are large logs in the water. It was so colorful.
There were so many different tiny colored flowers down along the water.
Unfortunately we started our hike, and soon after the bridge a couple was walking back and told us we shouldn't go any further unless we had "Bug Off". They said the bugs were horrible.
We said thanks for the tip, but kept walking...
What a mistake. The bugs swarmed us and we could barely take a step without getting bit.
We ended up literally retreating by running back to the bridge!
So our SECOND attempt at a hike was a BUST!
We decided the best thing to do now was to get ice cream.
We headed to Baskin Robins and each got a double scoop.
